L is for Love

This is the lesson we did last year for Valentine's Day. Snuggle Puppy has become a favorite in our house since then and has been read almost every night!

Mommy & Me Book Club
Gathering Activity	Valentine books String hearts together to make a heart garland.
Welcome Announcements:	Welcome Song (tune: London Bridges) Come along and clap with me, Clap with me, clap with me. Come along and clap with me, It’s time for us to start. Rule: I will keep my hands and feet to myself.
Circle Time	The More We Get Together Sing ABC song. Count from 1-10 forward and backward.
Book Time	Snuggle Puppy by Sandra Boynton I put my hands together, this is how I start; I curve my fingers right around and I can make a Heart! Note: Act out the song with your hands H-E-A-R-T (to the tune of BINGO) "There is a shape and it means love and Heart is it's name-o. "H-E-A-R-T, H-E-A-R-T,  H-E-A-R-T, and Heart is it's Name-o."  Repeat leaving off a letter each time.  Blow kisses for each missing letter.
Art Activity (Fine motor skills activity)	Puppy love Valentine bags
Snack	Valentine popcorn and strawberries
Game  (Gross motor skills activity)	Pass the Heart Hand out Valentines to each other.
Closing	Good-bye Song (tune: Here We Are Together) Now we wave good-bye, Good-bye, good-bye. Now we wave good-bye, I’ll see you next time.
